The mouthpiece is a very personal and individual tool for every wind musician to influence the character of his instrument.
Due to the anatomical characteristics of each wind player, the requirements are also individually different: The mouthpiece forms the link between the instrument and the player.

At the alphorn makers in Habkern you will find a large selection of different types of mouthpieces for the alphorn.
Our mouthpieces are made on the latest generation of lathes. The simple operation of the machine gives you, the customer, the opportunity to create your own customised mouthpiece. We will be happy to advise you competently.
The woods we use
We use selected olive and boxwood for our mouthpieces. Other types of wood are also available on request.
Our service
We offer various mouthpiece rims and cup depths as standard. You are welcome to test these with your alphorn in our showroom in Habkern. If you would like to do this at home, we will be happy to send you a selection.
We can also make copies and replicas of your favourite mouthpiece for you at no great extra cost. The measurements and data are stored for several years. This enables us to produce the same mouthpiece for you even after several years. Ask about the possibilities.

Mouthpieces with natural, vegan lacquer
Urushi is obtained from the sap of the Asian lacquer tree. It has been used in Asia for many hundreds of years to protect and finish objects made of wood or other materials.
When cured, urushi is food-safe, acid-resistant and antibacterial. The surface feels pleasant and natural.
